Auckland Pride have continued to follow developments since Sunday regarding the cases of COVID-19 that have emerged following their release from MIQ. We were hoping to not have to provide an update so soon, but we want to continue to reassure our community that we have plans for the re-emergence of COVID-19 in our community and are ready to swiftly implement them if necessary.

We are relieved that Health Officials don’t currently believe the risk is significant enough to move Auckland’s Alert Level, however we will continue to closely monitor any updates and be ready to change our plans accordingly. At this stage we are not implementing any changes to our events and will continue to follow the advice of health officials. We will continue to work with our community and event organisers as we maintain safety as our number one priority, and provide updates as necessary.

This underpins the importance of why we’ve mandated registrations in advance of free events, and why we all need to be scanning QR codes, turn bluetooth tracing on, washing hands, and staying home if sick. Following this advice, especially around scanning QR codes and bluetooth tracing, enables fast and effective contact tracing that could prevent us moving levels in future. 

We want to take the opportunity to thank our health officials, contact tracers, and nurses for their tireless work in ensuring that we can manage these latest cases without moving alert levels. To deliver the best Auckland Pride Festival for our communities, it’s important we remain vigilant and stay at Alert Level One.
