Crime and Punishment

Presented by samesame but different

Saturday 13 February, 10:30-11:30am

Ellen Melville Centre  2 Freyberg Place, Auckland Central
Free Event

Crime and punishment are loaded terms for LGBTQI+ writers. Who gets to decide what constitutes a crime, and who dishes out the retribution that follows? Join three whipsmart writers who have waded into this contested area in a panel hosted by a two-time finalist for the Ngaio Marsh awards, Jen Shieff.

Featuring Aroha Awarau, author of the 2020 play Provocation exploring the unjust gay-panic defence; -the crime-writing duo behind Jennifer Palgrave, the person who wrote the lesbian mystery novel The One That Got Away; and Vogel award winner M. Darusha Wehm, author of the sensational cyberpunk detective series Andersson Dexter.
