Enter Creation: Movement Workshop

Enter Creation: Movement Workshop

Friday 26 February, 7pm - 9pm

Grey Lynn Library  474 Great North Road, Grey Lynn
Free Event

Join Dr Mark Hamilton for a 2-hour workshop that will help you embody your unique imaginings through movement. Come and express your creative individuality, visions and myths. The workshop is about supporting our freedom to move without inhibition, to connect with others, to make bold physical statements of who we are.

We begin with large focused movements to awaken and release our bodies. We transition into moving with partners, exploring complicity and tension. Finally, we present some of our movement work, to discover the stories our creations weave for others.

The workshop is a space welcoming people from all of our Rainbow communities and their Allies. It is for anybody looking to move deeper into using their body as the anchor for their creativity. It is a chance to come into a space with others and discover how interacting through movement can be a way of working at the edges of what we know. We will make together an open and inclusive environment, giving each of us freedom to declare who we are without a glamour filter.

This activity is part of Proud Centres – Auckland Council initiative supporting the 2021 Auckland Pride Festival by transforming arts, community and events venues into Proud Centres and hosting a series of over 150 FREE diverse, inclusive events across Tāmaki Makaurau.
