HEtheyShe

HEtheyShe

Presented by the Coven Arts Collective

Tuesday 9 - Saturday 13 February, 8pm

Basement Theatre  Lower Greys Avenue, Auckland City

HEtheyShe is a series of death and rebirths that on life’s path navigated me towards the self love and fulfilment that accompanies following your own instinctual path despite taking a path misunderstood by most. When HE dies HE is returned to the Earth to nurture Her soil, to begin with greater learning once again to sprout from a seed of life, She holds space for him to return to act and walk the direct path he seeks to gather water for hisselves to grow and his soul family. She loves and leans into the creation energy that canvases his skin, scalp, eyes and body and teaches him how to recreate himself back into existence again with love and light.

HEtheyShe premiering at the Basement Theatre 2021 Pride Season is a solo performance art, activation dance experience, they are a projection mapping of the world unseen, a soundscape of the disillusionment that manifests in our subconscious self painted by the dancing body to challenge the limitations of our tunnel visioned collective understanding of gender.

Performed and conceptualised by Non-binary BIPOC (Māori/Samoan) poet, performance artist and movement artist, Cypris Afakasi working closely with world class established multidisciplinary artist and director, Moe Laga. Both are founding members of the arts collective Coven (@coven.nz) and the House of COVEN-CARANGI.

This event was made possible through the Pride & Spark Empowerment Initiative.
