As Auckland Pride continues to respond to the impact of Alert Level Three on our events, we will provide regular updates on the status of events, postponement dates, and any additional information for our community.
We are still working to find new dates and venues for eight events postponed due to the Alert Level Changes on the 14th of February, and for the five remaining events that we announced were postponed yesterday. We hope to have updates on most of these by the end of the week.
Since yesterday’s update, the China Pride Festival has been cancelled. “We are sorry to announce that whilst we are eager to meet every one of you, we will have to cancel China Pride Festival due to the huge amount of uncertainties. It has been great fun working with a lot of rainbow communities and it is a shame that we eventually have to cancel these events. Our hearts hurt as much as yours.”
There are seven events that were previously marked as postponed, that have now been cancelled. Additionally there is a new date for Code Switch, which has been moved to the 1st of April at Phoenix Venue. These cancellations are disappointing for all of us, but come at a time of deep uncertainty for event organisers and we know our communities will understand these tough decisions that have been made.

Updates to other major events, such as Splash and the IMAN Ball, will be provided once Alert Level Decisions have been made beyond Sunday. The Auckland Pride website remains the best source of up to date information on the status of events. We will continue to place the safety of our communities at the heart of our decision making, and continue to provide regular, transparent updates.
We continue to urge our communities to follow the restrictions put in place under Alert Level Three, we’ll be able to gather again soon and celebrate Pride. We will get through this together, so look after yourselves, be kind, and let’s unite against COVID-19.
